History of The Trinity Knot: The trinity knot is also called a triquetra. Christians believe that the three points of the Irish trinity knot represent the three elements of the holy trinity: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Pagans (with related beliefs to the Celts) see the trinity knot as a representation of the natural forces – earth, air, and water.
The Shamrock: The symbol dates back to the 5th Century, where legend has it, St. Patrick used it to demonstrate the Blessed Trinity whilst converting the pagan population to Christianity. Today it is synonymous with Ireland and Irish people around the world.
The Claddagh: The hands of the ring are shown holding the heart and the hands denote friendship and togetherness, the heart itself signifies love and the crown in the Claddagh ring stands for loyalty. The deep and true meaning of the Irish Claddagh rings has also put them into a group of rings referred to as the faith rings.
