This stunning basket is a smaller replica of the basket presented to Her Majesty The Queen by the NI Executive during her Diamond Jubilee visit to Belfast on 27th June 2012. In response to demand from retailers and collectors at home and abroad, soon after the presentation to Her Majesty the Queen, this smaller replica of the china basket was launched.
The shape of the basket dates back to the 1890's and has not been made for a number of years. This unique basket has been inspired by wild flowers found in Belleeks' local woodlands and hedgerows. There are several types of familiar wild flowers- Flax; Found in pastures, represents Irish linen industry. Bluebells; Found in deciduous woodlands. Honeysuckle; common in hedgerows and coastal rock faces. Primroses; winter flower usually in mountain areas and hedge banks. Fuchsia; found in hedges. Daisies; Found in grasslands. Wild Roses; Found in hedges. Hidden through the flowers are honey, bees, butterflies, ladybirds and dragonflies with a few of Belleek's trademark shamrocks and a lucky four leaf clover.
